That has to be my new, most-favorite quote from a book. 😍
And Russell is spot on — whether you’re selling books or bright pink dragon socks, your ideal customer (the one you really want), is not “EVERYONE”. Find the right ones, and you’ll have a fan for life.
One of the things I enjoyed most about this book is he doesn’t take a “do as I say not as I do” perspective. He tells you how to strategically plan and evaluate your author (or other creative) biz, with real, actionable steps that anyone can put into practice — I’ve already added more than a few of them to my calendar!
I cannot recommend this book highly enough for indie-authors.
Let me say that again in short…
GO READ THIS BOOK
Yep. One of the often-fatal mistakes a creative (indie-author) makes is not treating this like a business… when, it is a business. At least, if you are trying to make a living from your writing – you MUST treat it like a business — but that doesn’t mean it has to be icky and not fun.
Oh, and in case I didn’t mention it… go get this book – it’s brilliant!
