đ»Thoughts from the Den #11: Tech Graveyard No More
How to Evaluate and Let Go of Author Tools That Donât Serve You
đȘŠ Have you become the keeper of the Tech Graveyard?
You know the one I mean.
The dozens of apps, platforms, logins, subscriptions, and digital âhelpersâ that were supposed to streamline your writing life⊠but somehow made it more chaotic.
This post is your permission slipâand your action planâto lovingly bury the tools that arenât serving you anymore.
đ§ The Problem: Author Tech Burnout Is Real
Itâs not you.
Itâs the pressure to be on every platform, try every trend, and automate everything... even when your soul just wants to write.
Neurodivergent? Trauma-sensitive? Chronically ill? That adds extra layers of overwhelm most productivity gurus donât even acknowledge.
đ The Solution: Tech Triage
Hereâs how to do a gentle, no-shame author tech audit:
Make the List
Jot down every tool, app, or platform you're using (or signed up for) in your writing/business life.
Bonus: include what each one promised you when you joined. The Mojo Mama Litmus Test
For each tool, ask:Does this reduce friction or increase it?
Does it serve my energyâor drain it?
Am I actually using itâor just feeling guilty that Iâm not?
Retire or Recommit
If itâs a âmehâ or âugh,â say goodbye. Cancel, uninstall, or archive it.
If itâs a YES tool? Commit to using it more intentionallyâmaybe with a simplified workflow or tutorial refresher.
đż Your New Mantra
You donât need more tools. You need the right ones for your brain, your body, and your creative rhythm. Less is sacred.
