The Tree That Remembered Herself
There was once a tree who gave everything away.
Her apples, her shade, her branches, her very trunk — until she was nothing but a stump.
And the world applauded her for it.
They called it love.
They called it selflessness.
They called it good.
But one day, long after the boy stopped coming, the stump began to dream.
She dreamed of roots stretching deep, of sap running warm again.
She dreamed of leaves whispering to the wind, of birds nesting where branches once reached.
And when she woke, something wild and green stirred beneath the soil.
