✨ Rewild & Wind Down Your Writing Year: Part 6
A Rewilding Ritual for the New Year — Closing 2025 with Intention
We’ve arrived at the final week of our gentle year-end reset — and what a journey it’s been.
If you’re feeling:
tired
hopeful
uncertain
ready for a fresh start
or just wanting to breathe differently going into 2026…
…this post is for you.
Most New Year rituals are loud. Big. Demanding.
Full of pressure and “transform yourself starting January 1st!” energy.
But writing isn’t built from pressure.
Writing grows from presence.
So today, as we close out this series (and this year), I want to offer you something soft, sustainable, and deeply human:
A rewilding ritual.
Simple.
Grounded.
Gentle.
And powerful enough to shift the way you walk into the year ahead.
Let’s begin.
🌿 Part 1 — Release: What You’re Not Taking with You
Before you reach for “new goals,” it helps to put down what you’ve been carrying.
Ask yourself:
“What part of my writing year do I not want to bring into 2026?”
It could be:
shame
comparison
overthinking
unrealistic pressure
perfectionism
fear of not being productive
avoidance
harsh self-talk
rushing
guilt about unfinished drafts
Write them down — even if it’s just one.
Then, next to the list, write:
“I don’t need this anymore.”
You don’t.
Truly.
✨ Part 2 — Remember: What 2025 Taught You
Reflection becomes healing when it turns into truth.
In your notebook, write:
“What did 2025 teach me about my writing life?”
Maybe you learned:
you write better slowly
consistency matters less than returning
healing helps your creativity
small steps add up
pressure shuts your creativity down
your ideas matter more than your output
writing is easier when you’re kind to yourself
rest is a tool, not an enemy
These lessons are not small.
They are the foundation of your sustainable writing future.
✨ Part 3 — Reclaim: What You Want to Carry Forward
Now ask:
“What part of me do I want more of next year?”
This might include:
courage
curiosity
play
gentleness
confidence
sovereignty
stability
creative joy
resilience
vision
Write down anything that feels true.
These words become the emotional compass of your writing life in 2026.
✨ Part 4 — Rewild: A Simple Ritual to Close the Year
Here’s a gentle closing ritual you can do in 3–5 minutes:
Sit somewhere quiet.
Place a hand on your heart or your chest.
Take one deep breath.
Whisper (or think):
“I made it through. I’m still here. I am growing.”Look at your three lists:
What you’re releasing
What you’re remembering
What you’re reclaiming
Circle ONE word that feels most alive to you.
Let that word walk with you into 2026.
You don’t need resolutions.
You don’t need pressure.
You don’t need to change everything overnight.
Just one word.
One feeling.
One direction.
One spark.
That’s enough.
🌄 Your Closing Moment
You’ve walked through this entire series with courage.
You’ve reflected — gently.
You’ve honored yourself — honestly.
You’ve allowed space — bravely.
You’ve softened where you could have pushed.
And that, right there, is the beginning of a sustainable writing life.
Next week — the first week of 2026 — we begin:
✨ The Sustainable Writing Life (Signature Series)
A grounded, compassionate blueprint for building a writing practice that supports your real life, real energy, and real creative heart.
I can’t wait to walk into the new year with you all.
With love and belief,
