When Nothing Holds Me Back (and That’s the Scariest Part)

There was a moment last week when a thought nibbled at the edges of my brain and refused to let go:
“So… why aren’t you writing, then?”
The truth is: I haven’t written — just me, alone, with a manuscript, large word-counts flowing freely from my fingertips (i.e., my happy place) — since before “he-who-must-not-be-named”.
That’s over three years.
And while there are reasons (lingering tech backlog, shifting work, protecting my body/nervous system from overload)… the deeper truth?
I could have written more by now. I could have carved even 30 minutes a day for words.
But I didn’t.
And I realized this morning: maybe it’s not fear of the page.
Maybe it’s fear of what comes after.
