Strength — The Power You Don’t Have to Earn

Strength showed up for me this morning, and the timing was… comical.

I laughed. I rolled my eyes. I muttered something snarky under my breath. Because this card? It loves to appear on days when you feel like absolute garbage.

Not triumphant.
Not fiery.
Not “strong.”
Just exhausted, achy, fog-brained, and doing your best to stay upright.

Strength doesn’t show up to congratulate you.
It shows up to remind you — gently and annoyingly — that gentleness is strength.

And I want to share today’s card in two parts, because the Strength card doesn’t just speak to me.

It speaks to every writer who has ever tried to work while their body or brain felt like a tangled ball of yarn.

🪶 Part 1: For the Writers

Strength is not about brute force.
It’s not about being brave, bold, or in-control.

It’s the card of:

  • Quiet resilience

  • Sustainable effort

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Emotional maturity

  • The power of soft boundaries

It shows up when:

  • You are overstimulated and overtired

  • You woke from dreams that felt like a squirrel convention in your skull

  • Your alarm betrayed you and you woke up behind schedule

  • Your body aches but the world still needs things from you

  • You want to create, but you also want to crawl back under the blankets

This is the version of Strength people forget:

The Strength card is not a lion roaring.
It’s a woman placing a gentle hand on the lion’s jaw — without fear, without force.
It’s trust.
Patience.
Co-regulation.

Strength says:
“You don’t have to perform. You don’t have to push. You can be tender and still capable.”

And for writers?
This is a critical truth.

Because your creative life will never be built on pressure alone.
It’s built on pacing.
On steady self-trust.
On learning the rhythm of your body instead of trying to dominate it.

Today’s Practical Magick:

Honor your body’s pacing.
Don’t sprint.
Don’t overcorrect.
Do one small thing at a time, with gentleness.
And if you’re in the middle of editing or drafting, take one mindful breath before you continue.

Strength is quiet longevity.
And writers need longevity more than anything.
