Four of Pentacles — Hold What's Yours, Loosen What Isn't
This card showed up for me this morning, and honestly? It felt like a warm hand on my shoulder.
Not a warning. Not a scolding.
Just a quiet, steady voice that said: “You’ve been through it, love. Hold tight to what matters — but only what actually matters.”
I want to share this one in two parts — because the Four of Pentacles doesn’t just speak to my season right now. It speaks to every creative who’s ever had life knock them flat and then had to figure out how to climb back to their desk.
🖊️ Part 1: For the Writers
The Four of Pentacles is the card of the careful keeper.
It shows a figure holding four gold coins with their whole body — one balanced on the crown, one clutched to the chest, one under each foot.
At first glance it looks like fear. Like hoarding. Like someone terrified to let go.
But look closer.
This is also the card of the writer who has learned — sometimes the hard way — that not everything deserves your energy.
It shows up when:
You’ve been burned by overgiving and need to rebuild your reserves
You’re emerging from a hard season and need to be selective about what gets your precious focus
You’re being called to protect your creative time like it’s gold — because it is
You’re rebuilding financial ground and need to be intentional, not impulsive
You’ve been saying yes to everything and wondering why you’re empty
This is the card that gives you full permission to say: “Not today.”
Not forever. Not from fear.
But from wisdom.
✨ The magic of this card isn’t in the holding — it’s in the choosing.
What deserves your coins today? Your time? Your creative fire?
Because you only have so many, and you get to decide.
Today’s Practical Magick:
Before you open a single tab or start a single task — take 60 seconds and ask yourself:
“What are the three things that actually matter today?”
Write them down. Those three things get your coins. Everything else waits.
