Seven of Cups

On the dazzling spread of everything you could do — and how the Full Moon helps you see which cup is actually yours.

🖊️ Part 1: For the Writers

The Seven of Cups is the most seductive card in the deck. It doesn’t threaten you. It doesn’t crumble or burn. It simply floats seven golden cups in front of you, each one holding something gorgeous — a coiled dragon, a jeweled treasure, a castle in the stars, a crown of laurel — and it whispers: look at everything you could have. Look at everything you could become.

And oh, we writers know this card in our bones.

It’s the seven (or seventy - if you’re like me lol) browser tabs open at once. It’s the new shiny manuscript that calls to you the very week you’re meant to be finishing the old one. It’s the platform you “should” be on, the genre you “could” pivot to, the seven half-started documents glowing in your folder like — well. Like seven golden cups in the mist.

The mist is beautiful. But you cannot drink from all seven cups at once.

Here’s what the Dreamgazer knows: the problem was never a lack of ideas. You have never once suffered from too few cups. The struggle is the abundance — the dazzling, fog-wrapped spread of possibility that’s so lovely to gaze at you forget your paw was reaching for something real.

And look closely at the cups in this card, because they’re not all treasure.

There’s a dragon — the bold, terrifying thing you want but fear. There’s a castle — the fantasy, the someday, the escape. There are jewels — the dream of arriving, of finally being seen. But there’s also a serpent that could be wisdom or could be temptation. And there’s a skull — the cup that looks golden from across the room but holds something already dead. A project that’s run its course. A “should” you’ve outgrown. A path that decayed while you weren’t looking.

That’s the gift and the trap of the Seven of Cups. Not every shiny cup is good for you.

Some are pure mist.

Some are past their season.

But notice the one glowing cup — the one holding a radiant golden star. That’s the real treasure. Not the flashiest. Not the loudest. The one lit from within. The Seven of Cups isn’t asking you to grab everything. It’s asking you to grow the discernment to know your own star-cup when you see it.

🌿 Today’s Practical Magick

The next time you feel scattered across seven projects — the “I should be doing all of this” hum, the overwhelm of too many open tabs — try this:

Close your eyes. Picture all seven cups floating in front of you. Then ask one quiet question: Which one, if I finished it, would I actually be proud of?

Don’t pick the prettiest. Pick the one that’s real. Reach your paw toward that single cup. Let the other six dissolve back into mist — not gone, just not today.

That’s the spell. One real cup, gently chosen. 🌟🐾
