Ten of Wands – Carrying, Choosing, and Setting It Down
This card showed up for me this morning, and its timing could not be more on the nose.
The Ten of Wands is the “burden-bearer” card — the reminder that while life may hand us more than our share of heavy loads, we get to decide which ones we keep hauling… and which ones we finally put down.
And that, my loves, is both a warning and a blessing.
🪶 Part 1: For the Writers
The Ten of Wands arrives when:
Your to-do list feels like it could crush you.
You’ve taken on all the roles — writer, marketer, designer, social media manager — and it shows.
You’re trying to carry other people’s expectations on top of your own.
📚 For writers, this card often looks like:
Running your author business like a one-bear circus 🎪, until you’re exhausted.
Shouldering everyone else’s needs before your own creative work.
Forgetting that sometimes the bravest thing is not carrying it all.
✨ The wisdom here?
You don’t have to hold it all alone.
You don’t have to finish it all today.
You don’t have to carry loads that don’t belong to you.
🌿 Writers thrive not under crushing weight, but under chosen weight. The kind of weight that builds muscle and momentum — not burnout.
Today’s Practical Magick:
Pick three tasks that matter most. Do them at bear pace. Write down the rest on a slip of paper and say: “Not today.”
And if I can make a book recommendation that really embodies this Ten of Wands energy?
The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth About Extraordinary Results. It’s by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan, and it really changed my thinking about work, goals, and priorities… and it is 100% worth having on your bookshelf!
