On doing work that is worthy of you — and trusting that what is fair is already on its way.

🖊️ Part 1: For the Writers

Justice is not a dramatic card.

She doesn’t crash through the door. She doesn’t announce herself. She doesn’t need to.

She is already seated when you arrive.

In the Bear Bones Tarot, Justice sits on a carved stone throne in deep fuchsia robes, a glowing sword held point-down between her paws, the scales hanging in perfect balance on either side of her. Above her head, a star blazes — not a gentle star, a commanding one, the kind that navigators trusted with their lives. And her expression is calm. Settled. She is looking directly at you with eyes that have seen everything and have already made their assessment.

She is not waiting for you to perform. She already knows what you’ve done. She’s simply waiting for you to stop pretending you don’t know too.

The work you do in the quiet — she sees all of it.

Here’s what Justice knows about the creative life:

Writers are, by nature, people who work in the dark. We write first drafts no one will read. We revise chapters that might never matter. We build worlds in the margins of our real lives, between the appointments and the bills and the days when the body won’t cooperate. We do enormous amounts of invisible labor and then wonder — quietly, in the 2am part of ourselves — whether any of it is actually adding up to anything.

Justice says: it is.

Not in a vague, feel-good way. In a calibrated, precise, cosmic-ledger way. Every chapter drafted. Every post written. Every system built. Every time you showed up when you didn’t want to, when the spoons were low and the rain was making your joints ache and you did the next right thing anyway — she logged it. All of it.

Justice is not about punishment. She’s about accuracy.

And what she’s asking you today isn’t to hustle harder or prove your worth. She’s asking something quieter and more demanding than that:

Do work that is worthy of you. And then trust that fair return is already in motion.

That’s harder than it sounds. Because worthy work means no shortcuts taken out of fear. No undercharging because you’re scared someone will say no. No shrinking the thing you built because you’re not sure anyone will want it. No apologizing for the value of what your hands and mind have created.

The scales don’t tip because you panic at them. They tip because the weight is real.

  • Where in your creative life are you doing work you’re secretly proud of — but haven’t yet trusted enough to ask fair compensation for?

  • What would it feel like to present your work to the world with the same settled certainty as this bear on her throne?

  • What are you undervaluing right now — in your writing, your systems, your time — that Justice would gently correct?

🌿 Today’s Practical Magick

The next time you catch yourself shrinking — lowering the price, over-explaining the value, hedging before you’ve even been questioned — try this:

Sit down. Straighten your spine. Place both hands in your lap.

And say quietly: I know the weight of what I’ve built. The scales already know it too.

That’s it. That’s the spell. ⚖️🐾
