This card showed up for me this morning, and honestly? I laughed a little.

Because it’s just me and the cats today. No grand romance on the horizon. No mystery person leaving roses on my doorstep.

And yet — here rides the Knight of Cups, chalice raised, looking like he absolutely has something important to deliver.

So I sat with him for a minute. And I want to share what came through in two parts — because this card isn’t just about love. Not even close.

🖊️ Part 1: For the Writers

The Knight of Cups is the card of the romantic, the dreamer, the one who leads with their heart wide open and their intuition turned all the way up.

He’s the writer who cries at their own chapters.

He’s the one who started writing because they felt something so big they had no other choice but to put it on a page.

He’s you, actually. If you’re here, he’s probably you.

This card shows up when:

  • You’ve been grinding so hard in “output mode” that you’ve forgotten why you started

  • Your creative work has started to feel like a task list instead of a love letter

  • You’re producing but not feeling — going through the motions without the magic

  • You need to be reminded that your emotional depth isn’t a liability in your writing — it’s the whole point

The Knight of Cups doesn’t sit still and wait for inspiration to find him.

He rides toward it. Chalice raised. Heart forward. Moving.

But here’s what makes him different from the other knights — he’s not charging into battle. He’s not racing for the finish line. He moves with intention and feeling, not urgency and force.

That’s the invitation for your writing today.

Not: how much can I produce?

But: what am I actually trying to offer with this work?

The Knight carries a cup — an offering. Every story you write, every chapter you load, every Substack post you send out into the world — it’s a cup being carried forward, held out to a reader somewhere who needs exactly what’s in it.

You don’t have to write perfectly today.

You just have to keep riding. Cup raised. 🏇💙

✨ Today’s Practical Magick for Writers:

When you sit down to write today — before you open the document, before you check your word count — place both hands flat on your desk or your thighs, close your eyes, and ask yourself one question:

“What do I most want a reader to feel when they finish this?”

Let the answer come. Then write toward that feeling instead of toward a number.

Even five minutes of heart-forward writing will do more for your work than an hour of grinding from depletion.
