Seven of Swords â Strategy, Self-Permission, and the Sacred Sneak Away
This card slid into my spread this morning with a sly grin, and it had a lot to say.
And I want to share it in two partsâbecause the Seven doesnât just speak to me.
It speaks to every creative soul whoâs ever wondered if resting, playing, or doing less somehow meant failing.
𪜠Part 1: For the Writers
The Seven of Swords is the card of stealth, strategy, and clever energy management.
It shows up when:
Youâre trying to do too much at once, but your heart longs for rest.
You catch yourself thinking, âIf I donât work 10+ hours, I didnât do enough.â
You feel like you need to âsneak awayâ time for yourself â as if joy must be stolen instead of freely chosen.
But hereâs the truth:
This isnât the card of laziness or avoidance.
Itâs the card of wisely choosing where your energy goes.
For writers, that means:
Write (or edit) what matters most â not everything on your endless list.
Allow stealthy joy breaks: reading, gaming, or simply staring out the window.
Remember that strategic rest is just as powerful as strategic writing.
đ Practical Magick for Writers Today:
Set a timer for your next writing or work sprint.
When it dings â stop.
Give yourself permission to âsteal awayâ 30 minutes of joy after.
Itâs not cheating. Itâs choosing sustainability over burnout.
