The Last Stand Before the Breakthrough

This morning, the Nine of Wands stared me down with that familiar mix of fatigue and fire.

The card whispered, “You’re so close, but the last stretch always feels like the hardest.”

And honestly? It’s right.

I’ve been trying to rebuild my daily writing rhythm since taking my new job—
the very job meant to give me the safety and stability to write freely again.

Yet somehow, the moment I sit to begin, the old survival fears flare.
The body tenses, the mind hesitates.
It’s not resistance; it’s the nervous system remembering burnout.
And it’s also me, knowing I’m not the same woman I was when I was cranking out 150,000 words per month and publishing 7+ books a year.

And knowing I’m not the same, the old self-doubt creeps around the edges, whispering:
Are you sure you’ve still “got it”?

But the Nine says:

“You’ve fought this fight before, love—and you’ve already won every round that mattered. All that’s left is the courage to stand tall while the dust settles.”

✍️ Part 1: For the Writers

The Nine of Wands is the Writer’s Grit card.
It shows up when you’ve revised the same paragraph ten times,
when life has thrown obstacles between you and the page,
and when your creative fire flickers under the weight of exhaustion.

This isn’t failure.
It’s a sign you’re approaching mastery.

Why it feels so hard right now:
Because you’ve stopped running on adrenaline and started creating from calm—
and calm feels unfamiliar after years of chaos.

The invitation:

  • Protect your peace as fiercely as your deadlines.

  • Write in micro-moments if macro-ones feel unreachable.

  • Let 15 minutes count as victory.

🪄 Today’s Practical Magick:

Light a candle before your session and say,

“This time, I write from safety, not survival.”

Then, write one line.
That’s enough to shift the spell.
