This card showed up for me this morning, and whew — it didn’t come to whisper.
The Six of Cups is nostalgia’s mirror. It’s the ache of what was sweet and the sting of what was stolen.

And for those of us rebuilding after betrayal or trauma, that mirror can burn.

Because what happens when your “cherished memories” are tangled with pain?
When the very moments that once glowed are now ash-edged?

The Six of Cups doesn’t tell us to relive them.
It tells us to retrieve what’s still ours from them.

✍ Part 1: For the Writers

Writers are professional rememberers.
We weave the past — our own, our characters’, our world’s — into something new.
But sometimes memory feels more like a minefield than a muse.

The Six of Cups asks us to sort the gold from the gravel.

It says:

  • Don’t worship the memory; understand it.

  • Don’t chase innocence; reclaim truthful tenderness.

  • Don’t rewrite the past; write from it.

Every creative who’s ever tried to build again after heartbreak knows this ache:
the way music, scent, or a line of dialogue can summon both light and shadow.

But this card reminds us: you don’t have to throw away the whole story because one chapter hurt you.
You get to edit.
You get to reclaim the parts that were always yours.

✹ Today’s Practical Magick:

When you feel that bittersweet pull, whisper:

“I keep the lesson, not the wound.
I claim the warmth, not the fire that burned me.”

Then breathe out — long and slow.
You just rewired a memory.
