Ten of Wands — Put It Down, Bear. Just Put It Down
This card showed up this morning like it had been waiting at the door with its bags packed.
Of course it did.
It’s the Spring Equinox. It’s a clearing day. And apparently, the universe has a flair for the dramatic. ✨
🖊️ Part 1: For the Writers
The Ten of Wands is the card nobody wants to pull — and the card everybody needs.
It shows a figure hunched under an enormous bundle of wands, staggering toward a distant house. They can barely see where they’re going. They’re not moving gracefully or powerfully. They’re just... enduring. Head down. One foot in front of the other.
Sound familiar?
This is the card of the writer who has seventeen unfinished projects, forty-three browser tabs open, a manuscript half-edited from October, three ideas they’re “definitely getting back to,” and a brain that hasn’t had a clear horizon in months.
This is the card that shows up when:
You’ve been carrying your creative dreams alongside everyone else’s needs for so long you’ve forgotten which weight is actually yours
Your “to write” list has become its own source of dread instead of excitement
You keep adding to the pile because putting something down feels like giving up
You’re so buried under the accumulated weight of everything that you’ve lost sight of the one thing — the story, the project, the creative spark — that actually lights you up
Here’s what the Ten of Wands is actually saying, and it’s not what most people hear:
The figure is almost home.
They’re nearly there. This isn’t a card about failure or collapse. It’s a card about the last stretch — the moment right before you get to set everything down and walk through the door into something new.
But — and this is the part that matters — you have to actually put the bundle down to walk through.
You cannot carry all of it through the threshold with you.
The threshold won’t allow it.
This is the card that asks the hardest creative question of all:
🔥 What are you still carrying that was never actually yours to carry?
Not “what can you finish faster.” Not “how do you get more efficient.” But — what have you picked up, accumulated, added to your load that belongs to an older version of you? An older season? An older story about what you had to be to be worthy?
Ostara — the Spring Equinox — lands today with perfect, almost rude timing. 🌱
Because Ostara is the threshold holiday. Equal dark, equal light. The exact moment of balance before the growing season begins. And you cannot plant new seeds while your arms are still full of last winter’s debris.
The Ten of Wands on the Spring Equinox isn’t a warning.
It’s an invitation.
Put it down. Clear the space. Walk through the door.
Your next creative season is waiting on the other side — and it is lighter, and brighter, and more yours than anything you’ve been hauling around.
🐾 The Ten of Wands invites you to ask:
What have I been carrying in my creative life that I could actually just... set down today?
What project, expectation, obligation, or story about myself is making it impossible to see where I’m going?
If I cleared just one thing — one tab, one guilt, one half-finished thing I know I’m not coming back to — what would I be able to see that I can’t see right now?
Writers don’t just need inspiration. They need space. Room to breathe. A cleared threshold to walk through into the next story.
The Ten of Wands says: You’re almost home, honey. Put the bundle down. Walk through the door. 🔥🐻
✨ Today’s Practical Magick:
Pick one thing today — just one — that has been sitting on your mental “I should really deal with that” pile. One unfinished thing, one lingering guilt, one tab you’ve had open for three weeks.
Close it. Delete it. Move it. Release it.
Not because you failed it. Because you’re choosing what comes through the threshold with you — and that gets to be YOUR choice now.
That’s the magic. 🌱
