On the gift the universe sets gently into your open paws — and why you don’t have to chase what you’ve already been given.

🖊️ Part 1: For the Writers

The Ace of Pentacles is not a loud card. It doesn’t come thundering in on a black horse. It doesn’t crumble towers or pierce hearts. It shows a bear — golden-furred, wrapped in a deep magenta cloak — kneeling quietly in a meadow of wildflowers. In both paws, held out like an offering rather than clutched like a prize, glows a single golden coin marked with a star. And here is the detail I want you to really see: the light from that coin isn’t being hoarded. It’s raining gently down, pooling into the dark earth at the bear’s feet, soaking into the soil. Above, a single brilliant star blazes its blessing across the night sky. And winding off toward the distant mountains, a path — already begun.

It is the card of the planted seed. The first solid, tangible yes.

And it shows up for writers at a very particular moment: not when the dream is still a fantasy, and not yet at the harvest — but in the quiet beginning, when something real has finally taken root. A new project. A first paying reader. An offer that actually landed. The thing you’d been circling for months has, at last, become matter. Something you can hold.

The seed is already glowing. You don’t have to dig it up to check if it’s growing.

Here’s what the Ace of Pentacles knows about the creative life:

Writers are magnificent dreamers. We can conjure whole worlds before breakfast. But we are often terrible at trusting the slow, unglamorous magic of a thing simply growing. We plant the seed — and then we keep yanking it up by the roots to see if it’s sprouted yet. We launch the book and refresh the dashboard forty times. We post the offer and decide by lunchtime that it failed. We mistake tending for forcing.

The bear in this card does neither. The bear simply holds the coin in open paws and lets the light go where light goes — down, into the ground, into the foundation. The bear isn’t anxious. The bear is grounded.

The Ace of Pentacles puts a steady paw on your shoulder and says: it’s real now, love. You don’t have to chase it. You only have to tend it.

The card’s message isn’t “hustle harder.” It isn’t “manifest faster.” It is: something solid has begun. Your job is to give it good soil and a little patience — and to trust that the glow continues even when you’re not staring at it.

  • What seed have you recently planted that you keep digging up to check on?

  • What would it feel like to hold your work in open paws instead of a clenched fist?

  • What solid, unglamorous foundation could you tend today — not for the harvest, but because the tending itself is enough?

🌿 Today’s Practical Magick

The next time the scarcity-voice spikes — the “it’s not enough yet,” the “what if it doesn’t grow” — try this before you reach in to disturb the soil:

Find a coin, or a small stone, or anything that fits in your palm. Hold it. Take one slow breath. And say quietly: I plant solid ground. I trust the soil. The seed is already glowing.

Then set it somewhere you’ll see it. That’s the spell. 🪙🐾

This is where The Mojo Mama Bear gets bear-bones honest about what the card stirred up this morning — and what it looks like in a real, achy-backed, allergy-sneezing, gloriously ordinary Friday in the life of a working author rebuilding her whole life one tended seed at a time.
