The Five of Cups arrived this morning with that unmistakable ache in its message:

“If you’re feeling sad or down today, honor those feelings — don’t push them away.”

This isn’t the kind of card that shows up for mild inconveniences or passing moods.
This is the deep-water card.

The card that rises when a part of you is finally ready to acknowledge a grief you’ve carried for far too long.

And oh… did it ever line up with the dream I had last night.

But before we get to that — let’s talk about what this card wants for you, dear writer.

🪶 Part 1: For the Writers

The Five of Cups is the card of:

  • grief

  • regret

  • emotional abandonment

  • the echoes of past patterns

  • the wounds we tried to outgrow by pretending they didn’t hurt

It visits when a writer feels a subtle pull backward —
a tug from an old story that still lives in the body.

It’s the card of:

You thought you were over it…
But something small, unexpected, or seemingly unrelated knocks the breath out of you.

This card doesn’t shame you for that.

It invites you to:

✨ Feel the grief you once forced yourself to skip over
✨ Honor the younger self who endured more than she knew how to process
✨ Stop pretending a wound was “no big deal” when it quietly shaped entire chapters of your life
✨ Stop performing strength long enough to feel what’s true

And here’s the magic:

The Five of Cups is not the final scene.
It’s the threshold.
The moment you finally see the two unspilled cups behind you — the self-worth, wisdom, and emotional clarity you couldn’t access until now.

💛 For the creative heart:

This card invites you to write from the tender places.
To trust your internal knowing.
To let the truth — not the performance — guide your voice today.

✍️ Today’s Practical Magick for Writers

When a moment of grief hits today, try whispering:

“This feeling is a messenger. I honor what it came to teach me.”

Then write one paragraph — just for you — about a time you abandoned your own needs
or a time someone else abandoned them for you.

You don’t need to publish it.
You just need to witness it.
