I pulled the Death card again this morning.
Same card I pulled just last week. And when tarot starts repeating like that? I listen.

Because once is a whisper.
Twice is a reckoning.

🪶 Part 1: For the Writers

The Death card isn’t about loss—it’s about liberation through release. It asks:

  • What have you outgrown but are still carrying?

  • What are you clinging to out of habit, fear, or guilt?

  • What old version of yourself is begging to be composted… so your next self can bloom?

But there’s a quieter truth, too:
This card doesn't just demand release.
It demands recognition of the hidden ways we resist it.

Let’s talk about one of those hidden ways.
The sneaky shadow that doesn’t get discussed enough in creative healing work:

⚠️ The Hypervigilance Hangover

When your nervous system is coming out of trauma-survival mode, your brain doesn’t just let go.
It stays wired for storms. It scans for threat.
It starts whispering:

“What are we missing?”
“What’s about to go wrong?”
“Why does everything feel… off?”

And if you're not mindful of this pattern, you’ll unconsciously create a storm just to confirm the forecast.

It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of overwhelm.

Ever feel like your to-do list turns into an avalanche with no warning?
Or that a day with a big task feels suddenly unmanageable for no “logical” reason?

That’s not weakness.
That’s your survival brain still trying to protect you from a world that used to hurt.

💡 Writers, especially trauma-informed ones, are deeply vulnerable to this. We’re builders of worlds—and sometimes the biggest world we have to rebuild is the one inside our own body.

The Death card asks you to notice:

Am I reacting to the task… or to the threat I’ve unconsciously attached to that task?

Because here’s the thing:

Most of us aren’t afraid of hard work.
We’re afraid of failing again. Or collapsing again. Or disappointing ourselves again.

But that’s the past talking. And this card is a door.
You don’t have to go through it carrying a survival script that no longer fits your story.

🔮 Today’s Practical Magick for Creatives

☠️ Don’t fear repetition. Track it.
When a fear or card repeats, write it down. Let it teach you. Don’t just rush past it.

🛑 Before every task today, ask:
“Am I in the present, or protecting against a past pain?”
If it’s the latter, take 3 grounding breaths. Then proceed.

🌿 Write a Releasing Spell:
“I release the version of me who believed she had to carry it all alone.”
