đ´ Bear Bones Tarot: August 14, 2025
Title: Death (Again) â Unfinished Endings, Survival Brain, and Porch-Sized Prophesies
I pulled the Death card again this morning.
Same card I pulled just last week. And when tarot starts repeating like that? I listen.
Because once is a whisper.
Twice is a reckoning.
𪜠Part 1: For the Writers
The Death card isnât about lossâitâs about liberation through release. It asks:
What have you outgrown but are still carrying?
What are you clinging to out of habit, fear, or guilt?
What old version of yourself is begging to be composted⌠so your next self can bloom?
But thereâs a quieter truth, too:
This card doesn't just demand release.
It demands recognition of the hidden ways we resist it.
Letâs talk about one of those hidden ways.
The sneaky shadow that doesnât get discussed enough in creative healing work:
â ď¸ The Hypervigilance Hangover
When your nervous system is coming out of trauma-survival mode, your brain doesnât just let go.
It stays wired for storms. It scans for threat.
It starts whispering:
âWhat are we missing?â
âWhatâs about to go wrong?â
âWhy does everything feel⌠off?â
And if you're not mindful of this pattern, youâll unconsciously create a storm just to confirm the forecast.
It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy of overwhelm.
Ever feel like your to-do list turns into an avalanche with no warning?
Or that a day with a big task feels suddenly unmanageable for no âlogicalâ reason?
Thatâs not weakness.
Thatâs your survival brain still trying to protect you from a world that used to hurt.
đĄ Writers, especially trauma-informed ones, are deeply vulnerable to this. Weâre builders of worldsâand sometimes the biggest world we have to rebuild is the one inside our own body.
The Death card asks you to notice:
Am I reacting to the task⌠or to the threat Iâve unconsciously attached to that task?
Because hereâs the thing:
Most of us arenât afraid of hard work.
Weâre afraid of failing again. Or collapsing again. Or disappointing ourselves again.
But thatâs the past talking. And this card is a door.
You donât have to go through it carrying a survival script that no longer fits your story.
đŽ Todayâs Practical Magick for Creatives
â ď¸ Donât fear repetition. Track it.
When a fear or card repeats, write it down. Let it teach you. Donât just rush past it.
đ Before every task today, ask:
âAm I in the present, or protecting against a past pain?â
If itâs the latter, take 3 grounding breaths. Then proceed.
đż Write a Releasing Spell:
âI release the version of me who believed she had to carry it all alone.â
