On telling yourself the truth — and discovering it’s not as heavy as the fear made it sound.

🖊️ Part 1: For the Writers

Justice is not a dramatic card.

She doesn’t arrive with thunder or fire. She doesn’t come to punish you or reward you or explain herself. She comes dressed in deep magenta robes, seated on a stone throne, holding a sword that blazes hot pink at the hilt — and she just... looks at you. Calmly. Steadily. The golden scales hang level on either side of her. The star above her head blazes like a compass rose of pure white light in a cosmic sky.

She’s not surprised by what she sees. She never is.

Here is what Justice knows about writers, and what she has been trying to tell you for a while now:

You have been adding weight to the scale that isn’t there.

Writers are extraordinary at survival math. We take the real difficulty — the slow month, the unfinished draft, the gap between where we are and where we wanted to be — and then we add to it. We pile on the shame. The comparison. The story about what it means that things aren’t further along yet. We take something that weighs, say, four pounds, and we narrate it into forty. And then we wonder why we can’t move.

The scales don’t add weight that isn’t there. That’s the whole point.

Justice today is asking you to do something deceptively simple: look at what’s actually on the scale. Not what the fear-brain narrates. Not the worst-case interpretation. Not the running tally of everything you haven’t done yet. The actual weight. The actual evidence.

Because here is what the evidence usually shows writers who are in the middle of building something real: you’re further along than you feel. You’ve done more than you’re giving yourself credit for. The thing that feels impossibly stalled is, in fact, moving — just not at the speed anxiety demands.

Justice’s sword doesn’t cut people. It cuts through fog.

Today, let her cut through yours.

  • Where in your creative life have you been adding weight that isn’t actually there?

  • What would honest, clear-eyed accounting of your progress actually show you — separate from the story you’ve been telling about it?

  • What’s the difference between what’s true, and what the fear-voice says is true?

🌿 Today’s Practical Magick

Before you open your notebook or your laptop today, sit with your hands around your coffee cup and ask yourself one question — out loud, if you can:

“What does the truth actually show me?”

Not what the anxiety shows you. Not what comparison shows you. The truth. Then write three sentences. Whatever comes.

That’s the whole spell. Justice is in the asking. ⚖️🐾
